A stunning hand forged san mai nakiri style knife . The core is 20 layer damascus carbon steel (1084/15n20) and old bandsaw blade as a cladding. There is also a thin layer of copper between the layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. cumai is a name given to sanmai using copper

The hidden tang handle is made from yarran timber with copper and G10 spacers

Nakiri knives are a Japanese style of knife used to prepare vegetables.

Blade length is 155 mm ( 6 inches) and its 50 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 285 mm . The handle is 125mm long, a narrow 17mm wide, 26mm deep, The spine is 3mm wide for the length of the blade , weight is 180gm and it is slightly blade heavy in the balance

The blade has a concave S -Grind to help with food release. Being such a thin blade its designed for up and down cutting of softer materials so please go easy ( ie avoid) with sideways pressure such as may occur when breaking open a pumpkin.
