A stunning hand forged san mai chef knife . The damscus core is 1084 carbon steel and 26 layer damascus steel (15n20/1020) as a cladding. There are also a layer of copper between the steel layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai knives using copper

The handle is made from beautiful ringed gidgee timber with copper pins

Blade length is 200 mm (8 inches) and its 51 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 330 mm . The spine is 3.1 mm wide near the handle with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Weight is about 240gm do a heavy knife but a nice balance
