A stunning hand forged san mai chef knife . The damscus core is 40 layers of 1084 and 15n20 carbon steel then a layer of copper, a layer of 1084, more copper and then another 40 layers of 1084/15n20 damascus steel as a cladding. . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai knives using copper
the handle is made of ringed gidgee timber with copper and G10 spacers
Blade length is 195 mm (7 1/2 inches) and its 47 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 355 mm . the spine is 2.6 mm wide near the handle with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Weight is about 190 gm nice balance
