A stunning hand forged san mai style knife . The core is 52100 (ball bearing steel) carbon steel with 20 layers of “damascus” steel as a cladding. There is also a thin layer of copper between the core and the cladding layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai using copper

The full tang handle is made from gidgee timber with brass pins including one mosaic pin

Blade length is 205 mm ( 8 ¼ inches) and its 48 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 345 mm . The handle is 135mm long, a narrow 22 mm wide, 24mm deep, The spine is 2.9 mm wide near the handle tapering to 1mm near the tip, weight is 230 gm nice balance
