A stunning hand forged san mai style knife . The core is 52100 (ball bearing steel) carbon steel with wrought iron from an old wagon wheeel as a cladding. There is also a thin layer of nickel between the layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility.
The full tang handle is made from gidgee timber with brass pins including one mosaic pin
Blade length is 170 mm ( 6 1/2 inches) and its 42 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 305 mm . The handle is 140mm long, a narrow 20 mm wide, 23mm deep, The spine is 2.4 mm wide near the handle tapering to less than 1mm near the tip, weight is 160 gm nice balance
