A stunning hand forged san mai paring knife . The core is 1084 high carbon steel and wrought iron from an old wagon wheel has been used as a cladding. There is also a thin layer of nickel between the core and cladding layers . San mai means “3 layers” in Japanese and is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility.

The hidden tang handle is made from hairy oak timber with stainless steel and G10 spacers

Blade length is 120mm (4 3/4 inches) and its 30mm deep at the heel. Overall length is 245 mm . Spine width is 4.2 mm at the heel with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Handle is 110 mm long 20mm wide and 25 mm tall .
