A stunning hand forged san mai paring knife .
The damscus core is 40 layers of 1084 and 15n20 carbon steel then a layer of copper, a layer of 1084, more copper and then another 20 layers of 1084/15n20 damascus steel as a cladding. . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai knives using copperThe full tang handle is made from gidgee timber with copper pins.
Blade length is 120 mm (4 ½ inches) and its 32mm deep at the heel. Overall length is 240 mm . Spine width is 2.6 m at the heel with a distal taper to less than 1mm near the tip . Handle is 120 mm long 18mm wide and 21 mm tall .
