A stunning hand forged san mai nakiri style knife . The core is 20 layer damascus carbon steel (1084/15n20) and l084 as a cladding. There is also a thin layer of copper between the layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. cumai is a name given to sanmai using copper

The hidden tang handle is made from gidgee timber with copper and G10 spacers

Nakiri knives are a Japanese style of knife used to prepare vegetables.

Blade length is 125 mm ( 5 inches) and its 52 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 265 mm . Tjhe handle is 125mm long, 21mm wide, 27mm deep, The spine is 3.1 mm near the handle and tapers to an average about 2.5mm along the blade, weight is 185gm and it balances nicely.

The blade has a concave S -Grind to help with food release. Being such a thin blade its designed for up and down cutting of softer materials so please go easy with sideways pressure such as may occur when breaking open a pumpkin.
