A stunning hand forged san mai santoku inspired chef knife . The core is 20 layer damascus carbon steel (1084/15n20) and l5n20 as a cladding. There is also a thin layer of copper between the layers . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. cumai is a name given to sanmai using copper
The hidden tang handle is made from gidgee timber with copper and G10 spacers
Blade length is 175mm mm ( almost 7 inches) and its 43mm deep at the heel. overall length is 315 mm . The handle is 130mm long 20mm wide and 27mm deep . the spine is 3mm wide near the handle and tapers to under 1mm towards the tip . weight is 172gm, nice balance
