A stunning hand forged san mai nakiri style chef knife . The core is 20 layers of damascus (1084/15n20) carbon steel then a layer of copper, then mild steel as a cladding. . San mai is a Japanese sword making technique that allows for a hard steel core that stays sharp and the softer jacket either side allowing for some flexibility. Cumai is a name given to sanmai knives using copper

The handle is made from bulloake with copper and G10 spacers

Nakiri knives are a Japanese style of knife used to prepare vegetables, the blade has an S -Grind to help with food release. Being such a thin blade its designed for up and down cutting of softer materials so please NO sideways pressure such as may occur when breaking open a pumpkin.

Blade length is 140 mm (5 1/2 inches) and its 50 mm deep at the heel. overall length is 320 mm . the spine is 2.6 mm wide near the handle . Weight is about 200gm nice balance
